Compatibility

The Pixel Slate’s Type-C port, which is compatible with a wide range of external devices, is, in my opinion, one of the main reasons why it’s a good laptop replacement. As soon as I connected the slate to a Type-C to USB 3.0 converter, my external devices appeared, my Blue Yeti USB microphone and my Audio engine 2+ speakers. Many of these things are possible on the iPad Pro, but the lack of external storage means anyone using external drives is excluded.

The Pixel Slate’s two USB Type-C ports could teach Apple a lot. Unlike the new iPad Pros, which only support built-in storage, the Pixel Slate can be used with an external storage device, allowing it to fit into a modern office environment rather than relying solely on cloud storage. Still, both devices outperform the Surface Pro 6, which requires an additional $80 to get a Type-C port adapter to work.

However, this support for external devices comes with a small downside: After importing large files to the Pixel Slate, the screen goes dark for a few seconds before a blank Chrome tab appears. However, the file transfer works fine. Chrome Browser
